RAG (Raising and Giving) is MedSoc’s biggest society. We are responsible for some of the biggest events in the MedSoc calendar, including D-RAG, Cabaret, and RAG week. Each year MedSoc members vote for the charities that we raise for to ensure that we’re raising for causes that our members care about!

In addition to our social events, we also have one RAG Raid each term. This involves RAG and our volunteers hitting the town to (politely) ask the public to part with their cash for our amazing charities! You’ll see us from the Pavilion and the seafront to Churchill Square and Brighton train station. We truly appreciate anyone that gives up their time for the RAG Raids and we always try to organise a post-raid dinner or event to thank the volunteers, so get involved!

Finally, like everyone else trying to give your money to a good cause, our committee will often be found selling cakes, coffee, doughnuts and all of the other essentials to medical student life!

MindOut is a mental health service run by and for lesbians, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer people. We work to improve the mental health and wellbeing of LGBTQ communities and to make mental health a community concern. Last year we helped 1,342 people struggling with social isolation, suicidal distress, financial hardship, discrimination and prejudice, hate crime and exclusion.

The Malcolm Hart Foundation (MHF) has a mission to make the lives of family members supporting a loved one in Intensive Care a little more comfortable by building Quiet Rooms where they can go to have a breather and a cuppa at a very scary time. The first such room is being built at Hammersmith and then at all hospitals that want or need one
